Art/Volunteer Services

  • 91±¬ÁÏ Interns

    Art/Volunteer interns learn about the professional care of the Center's growing art collection in an office that functions like a museum registrar's office. They also work closely with Volunteer Services, which manages about 120 volunteers who support the Center’s work.

Overview

Art/Volunteer Services is responsible for the professional care of the 91±¬ÁÏ's growing art collection. The collection consists of a rich and diverse range of artwork that has been given to President and Mrs. Carter or to 91±¬ÁÏ. The art intern will also work closely with Volunteer Services and may assist with 91±¬ÁÏ events.

Number of Interns per Semester: 1

Program Preferences

  • Background in museum studies or art history
  • An interest in museum registration, education and/or curatorial work
  • Experience working with databases is desirable
  • Advanced research and writing skills

Typical Projects

  • Assist in registration and management of the Center's art collection.
  • Maintain computerized and written records.
  • Catalog new acquisitions as well as assist with inventory or appraisal.
  • Work on installation and minor conservation of art.
  • Conduct collection research and appraisal assistance.
  • Work on docent training materials.
